Overview
Cogniss now offers a One-Time Passcode (OTP) login feature, making sign-in simpler and more secure. Instead of remembering your password, you can use your validated email address to receive a one-time code and access your account instantly. It’s quick, convenient, and designed to streamline the login experience.
To use OTP, the feature must first be enabled in Admin > Settings in your Cogniss environment. Since OTP works together with email verification, email validation must also be enabled. Once OTP is activated at the platform level, it automatically applies to all apps within that platform. No additional setup is required for individual apps.
📌 If your app is on a shared Cogniss environment, OTP will be automatically enabled.
How to Sign In Using OTP
To sign in using OTP, the users must have to validate their email address.
Open the mobile or web app.
Enter your username or email address.
Check your email for the OTP sign-in code. Please make sure to check your spam emails. If multiple accounts are linked to the same email address, you will receive a separate OTP for each account.
Copy the 6 Digit OTP code from your email and enter it in the app to complete sign-in.
Frequently Asked Questions
What if I haven’t validated my email address?
If your email address was not validated before OTP was introduced on your platform, you’ll need to sign in using your password first. After logging in, validate your email address. Once your email is verified, you can use OTP for future sign-ins.
Can I still sign in using my password?
Yes. Password sign-in remains available. If you prefer using your password, you can select the password option and log in as usual.
What happens if multiple accounts are linked to one email address?
If more than one account is associated with your email, you will receive multiple OTP emails — one for each account. Use the appropriate code for the account you wish to access.
